Hi, I’m Linda, and the maker behind Stitches & Spindles. I’ve been making things for most of my life — knitting since I was five, learning to crochet from my grandmother, discovering spinning, and eventually getting hooked on cross stitch.

Stitches & Spindles is where I bring all those things together — the projects I'm working on, things I've learned along the way, things I find interesting, and yes... the occasional detour into food, gardening and everyday life.

Hand Crafting For Therapy

Have you ever thought of trying a new craft? Hand crafting is the best therapy for stress, worry, or anxiety. Its calms the mind, soothes the nerves, and gives your hands something to do. As well as producing a fantastic product as a result. Its also scientifically proven that hand crafting is excellent therapy.

There are so many hand crafts to choose from. My own personal experience over the years is knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, spinning, tapestry, and a dabble at weaving. I couldn't live without them. Cannot do them all at once of course, but one tends to stride in for a while, then moves over for another to take its place.

What Am I Making?

There are usually several cross stitch projects on the go. Some get finished quite quickly. Others... well, we dont talk about how long they've been sitting in the cupboard!

But, there is something satisfying about having a variety of projects on the go at the same time — each one holding a different mood, colour palette, and story. Each one suiting a different moment. My current cross stitch pieces reflect exactly that: a blend of countryside charm, delicate whimsy, beloved pop culture, and playful sweetness. Stitch by stitch they come to life...

From the Highland Cow to Grogu sitting on a helmet, a rabbit in a teacup, sunset through open doors and Sunda Ice Cream Dwarf, each one is different.
